INFO

With well over a decade of experience in film and video production, I have a strong ability to produce the maximum production value for your budget.

I've created content for leading brands, and have regularly worked in the video department for Google. My film work has won multiple awards and screened all over the world.

I love having the opportunity to direct an entire crew, and am also very at home shooting or taking a project through post-production myself.

Available as a reliable freelancer for your production needs; or a one-stop concept-to-completion video production solution for your brand and story.

I studied at Bournemouth Screen Academy where I got to shoot a lot on 16mm film. I have directed narrative projects in LA and shot videos in Europe. I also work in practical Special Effects, recent credits include BBC's Killing Eve, Chase & Status, Warner Brothers Pennyworth, and The Kitchen and Black Doves for Netflix.

"...an extremely entertaining watch especially if you are an avid horror fan like me. The best horrors play on the audiences’ emotional response to certain scenes and tease you with a non-scary scene when you were expecting a jump scare or blood coming down the walls. Jon James Smith is certainly familiar with this horror technique and tantalises our horror taste buds with these kinds of shots. [...] Last Orders is a great film to curl up on the sofa to and hide yourself behind a blanket with its creepy characters and atmospheric sounds."
